Merry Merry Christmas. I hope this finds you enjoying your holiday with loved ones and celebrating. She continues to bring joy into our day and hearts.

Michael and Katy meet at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point campus. The story goes that she opened the door for him during registration. Which door and building is still up for debate, but that was the spark that lead to many coffee and beers, which lead to Love!

The spark continued during our shoot when we went back to their old stomping grounds on campus. We had the best time that I just kept shooting and shooting. Here is a small look at the fun we had. I'm so looking forward to their 2012 wedding. Let the fun and love continue! Much love, Em

It's not every wedding that I get to see my dear friend get married. Amanda and I have known each other since before kindergarden. We took our first bus ride together. We played Barbies, memorized each others phone numbers, played with crawfish in the backyard, and started our 25 year friendship. I still can't believe that we have known each other for so long. What an awesome friendship.

When I met Darrin and saw him interact with Amanda I knew it was LOVE. Someone that adores my friend and can make her smile like this is a keeper in my book. Their sarcasm and silliness match perfectly.

I'm so grateful that I could be a part of their day. A new chapter for Amanda and Darrin's love story and a new chapter in our friendship!

Miss Sloane is the equivalent to pure JOY. I have never been greeted at the front door by a one year old with such friendship and hugs. Upon walking in she immediately went in for a hug. My kind of woman! If every session started like this I would only work with babies!
And then Yoda the yellow lab joined in on the fun. What a patient and lovely dog for Sloane. We ended the shoot with some Cheerios and a water bowl. Ha!

From the first moment I heard Tyler and Jennifer talk about the theme and ideas for their wedding I knew we were a good match. Our first shoot was to get some images from their movie film strip save the date. The second shoot was with their full wedding party to get the image for the movie poster that was displayed at the reception. The third shoot was the big day! This was the second time that I had worked with Tyler's family for a wedding which was a total joy. They are so fun, trusting and enthusiastic.
Tyler and Jennifer wanted to focus more on contemporary clean lines verses nature and fall colors. You might think that would be impossible in Stevens Point, but there are actually some neat areas that might surprise you.

Oh DUDE!!! I'm going to be AUNTIE Em come December! I was super fortunate to have been able to go visit my sister mid October in Anchorage. She is in the midst of making a human so I went up to help, hang and have some much needed sister time before she is full time Mommy!!! What a blessed time we had and what a change it is to be sisters now from growing up. Thank God I'm not as big of an ass as I used to be.

Isn't she GORGEOUS!!!!!! So pumped for her and Ryan, oh, and Moose (their Lab!). I can't wait to meet Mr. Man in person. Take her easy, put your feet up, keep cooking, and call me!

I adore everything about Madison, WI. There is a heartbeat that I feel there that is different than any other town. It makes me feel young again. I was thrilled when Heather said she was hoping for a Madison engagement session ... and can you guess what happened? The heartbeat started!

I like to say that Madison is where I grew up. Let me clarify ... Home is Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN. That is where I had the majority of my primary education. But my growing up happened in Madison as I attended college there. What a place to grow up!

I met Joe and Heather bright and early on a Monday morning to capture their engagement shoot. We met over coffee at the terrace and got to know each other a bit. There attraction and love for each other is infections and made my job super easy and fun. Thank you for keeping me in Madison another day and giving me another reason to stomp around State Street. What a beautiful day to get married. You never know what you are going to get for a fall wedding in the Mid West, but this day was perfect. There is nothing better than Autumn in Madison, WI with the leaves changing colors, the lake glistening in the sun and beautiful warm weather.

Pair this scene with an adorable couple and you get total awesomeness! Ryan and Angie's celebration took place at the Monona Terrace. The were married on the roof and celebrated in one of the ballrooms for the reception. Before and after the ceremony they gave me plenty of time to take them around the area to get them looking their best. What troopers ... totally in love and totally letting me do my thing. We went place to place and every time I would say, "There is another spot down the street. Do you want to try it or head to cocktails?" When Tom and Mary look at each other they glow. You can almost see sparks when they smile in the others direction.
Their big day started on Michigan Ave at the Westin where all the ladies put their best on. We then made our way to St. Chrysotoms Church for the beautiful ceremony. I just love the photo below of Mary in full smiles at the beginning of the ceremony. What a gorgeous church for a wedding ceremony. After some quick pic's after the ceremony we took the party to the Casino Club. What a fun, unique and beautiful place to have a celebration. The toasts, food and music were perfection. Chicago Sway got everyone dancing and having a fabulous time. If you need a band, this crew knows what they are doing!

What a complete joy it was to work with Rob and Lynn this last year. Seeing all their hard work come to life on their wedding day was just the bonus.
Our day started at the Risen Savior Church where both Rob and Lynn attended as they grew up. (I attended there during growing up too. It was so fun to be back!) There were a ton of neat spots that we used for pictures within the church that where a fun surprise. I love finding those unique spots that not everyone would see immediately. After the beautiful ceremony we went to the reception at The Wilds Golf Course. The club and the grounds are a perfect location for pictures and a celebration. I love the tall grasses that are right behind the club house. Pair the location with this awesome couple and you get perfection.

I love it when wedding day arrives. Sometimes I have contact with Brides and Grooms for a year or two before their actual day, so when it arrives and all the planning unfolds it is total joy.

Becky and Ryan's wedding day started at Saint Stephens Parish with a beautiful ceremony. We then went around Point for pictures and continued the celebration at the Stevens Point Country Club.

I originally met Scott and Christina on my way to shoot another wedding in Cabo, Mexico. Long story short they were attending the wedding I was shooting and we became instant friends. I was so excited to meet other people our age from Point that I had to keep my excitement bottled in as to not scare our new friends away. I can't believe that was 3 1/2 years ago.
Scott and Christina recently decided they wanted to celebrate what God has done in their marriage, and in each other, and do a vow renewal. We joined together on a beautiful Sunday morning with a small service and brunch at Whistling Straights Golf Course in Kohler, WI. What a gorgeous day we had to celebrate such a beautiful couple.
We took full advantage of the local area and started the shoot at the Blue Harbor Resort and then made our way to the amazing American Club for more pictures. The gardens, hallways, windows and coffee house on the property is a perfect location for an event. For our final location we went to Whistling Straights where we were really treated like kings and queens. Scott used to work there so he pulled the right strings and we were actually able to go out on the course! What a photographer paradise! The location is so AMAZING. I can't recommend it enough!

Radient, glowy, relaxed, love! This was the vibe for Jen and Dan's wedding day. I was totally in love with Jen and Dan as we shot our way to their ceremony. Every time I looked a Jen I couldn't help but ooggle over her gorgeous eyes. She was stunning in her Monique Lhuillier Gown.

The awesome setting was in Lake Geneva at a private residence on the lake. The weather was a bit warm (90 degrees if I remember correctly) but everyone toughed it out. Looking at the images you have no idea it was that hot.

I adored Jen and Dan's ability to have a good time and be themselves in front of the camera. As Dan said, "It probably helped a little that your fly was down when we started! It made me laugh and relax!" Well, I do what I can to make people feel comfortable!!! Thanks for not letting me walk around all day like that!!! That would of been so brutal!

Meet the fabulous Tyler. I was excited to shoot his senior portraits for him, but when I found out he liked to water ski I was ecstatic! Look at how awesome it was out on the water. Sean and Nicole's wedding was filled with laughter, joy and love. The wedding celebration started at Saint Bronislava with a beautiful ceremony. I continue to be impressed with the personal touches that they add to the weddings they host. One of my favorite parts of a wedding is when ceremonies are specific to the couple. Watch the slideshow to see everyone in attendance getting involved.

After the service, Sean and Nicole gave me plenty of time to get creative and take them to some of my favorite new places in town. Their color theme for the wedding was yellow, which was a first for me, so I really was able to use some new locations with them. I adored the bridesmaids dresses, which also had pockets. What a perfect thing for an active bridesmaid!

Sean and Nicole were so relaxed and gave me an open door to take them anywhere I wanted. The only request, "We want to have fun and look cool." Well, we had a rad time with you guys and your wedding party. By the looks of things you had fun and we think you look super awesome, so hopefully you feel the same.

After our run around town we continued the celebration at the Holiday Inn Stevens Point. They of course did a great job as usual. It seems like everything from the church, to the backdrops, to the lighting at the Inn ... was coordinated with their yellow theme. Weather it was planned or not, it has made editing the images really fun. It is also going to make their final album look awesome. Thanks again for all the fun. A few weeks ago I had the great pleasure of traveling to Washington Island, WI to meet and photograph Kent and Melissa's to celebrate their engagement. What an awesome time we had traveling around the island finding special spots of them just being themselves. Kent grew up on the island so he was a great tour guide and teacher about the islands history. We even included their gorgeous puppy in some of the fun. I swear she is smiling in the photos!

I love working with my past brides and grooms. Dave and Liz had a beautiful wedding back in 2009 and now have a beautiful little boy Thomas. I also love finding different areas or items in people's homes to use for our shoot. I immediately fell in love with this awesome chair in their office and new we had to get him to try and sleep on it. Like a pro he passed out and looked perfect!

What a beautiful day it was to get married. Just enough clouds, heat, sun, and love in the air made this wedding spectacular. You know it was a good day for everyone when the groom calls on the way to the airport the next day to say "Thank you" and that he even had a good time during the shoot! This is typical for most of my grooms ... usually they aren't super pumped about getting their picture taken, but by the end of the day they are super pumped on the slideshow playing at the reception!

What a beautiful day it was in Waupaca, WI for Tim and Molly's wedding. Every detail was in place and everything went as planned at the Red Mill. I adored everything about this wedding. Every detail was perfect. I was so impressed with how much creativity Megan, her family and her vendors had for this day. Everything down to the wire that held the flowers together matched. It was a photographers day in heaven.

And once again the storms, hail and rain stopped just in time for the ceremony and celebration to start and be held outside at a private home on the roof of the boat house. Oh how the Lord is good!

I'm so excited to share about how gorgeous everything was that I forgot to start at the beginning. This is a true love story that has been in the making for 15 years. Andy and Megan are high school sweetie that finally were brought back together to make the story complete. I have known Andy for 11 years now and have always heard about this 'Megan.' I finally met her this last fall and when I entered her into my phone I immediately gave her Andy's last name as I saw the twinkle in Andy's eye and had a feeling he wasn't going to let her get away this time!

Cheers to my newest bride and groom, Tom & Amy. Amy's description of unconditional love had me tear up during their ceremony. I am confident that they have the tools to make a great marriage.

The wedding day weather wasn't one most brides or grooms would pick out. It was raining! A lot! But just as we left Saint Bronz church in Plover, we were blessed and the rain let up. We were given the perfect setting for outdoor photos. Always having a plan B is key for Wisconsin's changing weather!

I took Amy and Tom to some of my secret, or not so secret locations, to match with Amy's favorite color green. The spring time growth really popped Saturday and added beautiful color to their photos. After our session we took the party to the Holiday Inn and let Over the Top Entertainment continue the fun.

Meet out new puppy, Bailey. We have debated for years about getting a dog. We finally took the leap after spending some time with our friends dog Lola and falling in love with her and her breed, which is Lhasapoo. It took us a while to find a breeder that we trusted but when we found Cathy on the internet we knew. Check out her website with live puppy videos and great homemade treat recipes. Thank you Cathy, we adore her and as you can see below she still loves her Lamby!

We are totally in love with her and can't wait for you to meet her too! The vet said she is super social ... my husbands response, "Just like her Mom!"

I couldn't help but to take some shots of her during our first weeks together. I just love the shadow pictures below. Who knew that I would have such an Artzy Fartzy dog!

Need a sense that summer is on it's way? Check out The Everett in Eagle River, WI. Last summer I had the privilege of shooting a wedding at this fabulous family owned resort. After the wedding the owners had me back to The Everett to take images of their awesome property. Thank you Tim and Peg for including me in this project. I adore your property and was thrilled to be included in a small bit of it's history.

The day after David and Sarah were married we met up again for a little tour around Phoenix. This was their opportunity to get a few more pictures at neat places throughout the city at places that were not possible to reach the day of the wedding. What a great opportunity! A wonderful couple mixed with a beautiful location, what more could a photographer ask for? This was a destination wedding for many involved in David and Sarah's big day. David and Sarah traveled all the way from Alaska and some family came from North Carolina. Arizona was a perfect place to bring everyone together, as it was just warm enough and just sunny enough to brighten everyone's winter blues. The full day took place at Superstition Springs Golf Club. I can't say enough good things about having an event all at one location. It really eliminates a lot of stress for everyone involved and makes for a seamless transition from ceremony to cocktails.

Sarah's excitement for photography gave us an instant connection. Sarah and David's relaxed nature and willingness to let me be creative truly made for a picture perfect scenario for the whole weekend. I had so much fun getting to know their loved ones and hanging out with their wedding party as well. They are truly blessed with lots of love. I wish everyone had Aunties like Sarah does! I believe they said that between 3 of them they almost have 200 years of marriage under their belts! That is amazing. What great stories they have and love.

A massive thank you to Scott Foust, owner of Image Industry in Phoenix, Az. Scott was my second shooter for the day of the wedding and was a massive help. It is possible to shoot a wedding with only one photographer (as many do), but I always feel the day moves so much smoother with 2 people, 4 eyes, 4 hands, and 4 cameras! Thank you Scott for "paying it forward" and contributing your passion to help another photographer out.

Who knew that a simple bike purchase from Tim would turn into a marriage? What a great celebration of love and joy last weekend in Hayward, WI. A simple but lovely ceremony at Spider Lake Church and a big celebration at Spider Lake Lodge topped off this perfect day. What a joy it was to witness such love. I just found out about this awesome product hand made by Anne Erickson called "Hair Candy." Anne makes each piece special and then sends them in the mail. Super easy and super cute!

The pieces pictured here are made by her from fabric left over from my wedding dress. I had extra from alterations (I'm short!) and didn't know what to do with the extra. I sent the fabric to her and this is what she created for me. I am in love with my new hair pieces and thought I would share. What a perfect way to reuse any fabric that is special to you. What about a bridesmaids or wedding dress, a piece of grandmas favorite shirt, or grandpa's hanky. There are some many different things you could do.

get your nails done!!!! "Shelack" in Stevens Point

Every year I donate a portrait session to a fabulous winner for the Northwoods Humane Society fundraiser, Cause for Paws. Kelly and Bruce were the lucky winners this year. I have to say I didn't know what to expect when pulling into a house of 3 dogs, but just like with kids portraits ... you just capture what they will give you.

Turns out these 3 like to fish. Countless hours are spent in the lake fishing and playing frisbee. I adore dogs and it was such a pleasure watching these 3 play around in the water. Thank you so much for supporting the Northwoods Humane Society! Three cheers (or woofs) to you!!!

If you want to know fun and love, you MUST meet Andy and Liz! I originally met Andy during work, as he is co owner of Over The Top Entertainment. Over the years we continued to find ourselves working the same events and it was clear we had the same passion for our work. Andy confirmed that we were like minded when he contacted me before Andy and Liz were engaged to see about me shooting their wedding.
